NEC Boat and Caravan Show - October 2012

NEC Boat and Caravan Show - 2012
Friday, 17th August 2012

We all get excited about new static caravans and as we are in the peak of the Summer 2012 holiday season in the UK we are looking forward to October this year when the launch of the NEC Boat and Caravan Show takes place.

This year is going to be an interesting time at the show with many holiday parks and static caravan manufacturers looking to secure business for 2013 having had an average year so far.

The NEC is a great venue located just off the M42 and with links to the M6, M5 and M1 just off. As such the Boat and Caravan Show 2012 will be busy with people looking to buy a boat, static caravan, holiday home or lodge. In addition there will be other exhibitors looking to promote other related products and services such as caravan insurance, caravan accessories and much more.

Last year saw a great turn out, but this year we are expecting greater numbers who are looking to gain a foothold in the growing caravan market. It is true to say that the sale of new static caravans is down this year, with the used static caravan market increasing but the NEC Boat and Caravan Show is always a good time to promote the benefits of buying new static caravans and new holiday homes.

We performed some market research earlier this year and noted that women have a preference to a new static caravan rather than a used static caravan. It wouldn't be a shock to realise that many women do not like sleeping on a bed that others have slept in - well, that's what came out of the research anyway!

So what else can we expect from the NEC Boat and Caravan Show for 2012? Here is a rundown of what information is available at the time of writing:

1) Holiday Home Manufacturers:
  • Swift Leisure
  • Prestige Park and Leisure Homes

2) Holiday Parks
There are normally quite a few holiday parks who also exhibit and we expect:

  • Haven Holidays
  • Park Resorts
  • Aberdunant Country Park

3) Accessories Megastores
As with all good shows the "gadgets and gizmos" section is one that always pulls in the crowds. This year seems to be no different with a host of businesses looking to grab cash off you for the latest caravan and boat related gadgets. Make sure this is an area you check out!

Other Attractions
The events attracts many visitors from across the UK so their are loads of other attractions for you to look at:
  • Real Richness Awards
  • The Cookery Theatre
  • Motorhome Manoeuvring Tuition
  • Towing Experience
  • Free Petanque Experience
  • Archery
  • Worldwide Escapes

08/05/2012: VAT Charged on Static Caravans and Holiday Homes
There has been a lot of press recently about the proposed introduction of VAT on the sale of static caravans. We see this as a diabolical tax on the hard working people of Great Britain, however the UK Government seem hell bent on taxing us further. There is currently a timescale of October 2012 before VAT will be charged on static caravans however there is an e-petition available for you to show your disgust at the proposals - we urge you to act now!
